Be an animator! Exhibit users get to make a simple movie
by arranging objects on the table, moving them in small
increments, and taking snap shots of the objects as
they are moved. A computer with special software stores
the snapshots and shows them at a very fast rate. When
viewed this way, the snapshots give the viewer an illusion
of smooth motion and the arranged objects appear to
be animated. This exhibit demonstrates the phenomenon
of persistence of vision which explains the ability
of the human brain to retain a visual image for a fraction
of a second.
