Infrared Harp

This exhibit has a large C-frame with a row of holes at the top and bottom. When the user moves his/her hand across one of these holes, a particular note is played. These holes correspond to the standard musical scale. A laser light comes from the top and is detected at the bottom hole. Blocking this laser activates the switch that plays a tone. With the use of both hands to simulate playing a harp, it is possible to produce a simple melody.

Infrared Harp is available in the "I AM a Scientist" travelling exhibit package.
