The Plasma Ball never ceases to amaze everyone with its
glowing gases of different colors. Inside the Plasma Ball
are electric charges that fly off from the center and
out of the ball to seek a path towards earth. Inside the
glass are gases like argon, neon and nitrogen that glows
with red, blue and pink colors as electric charges pass
through them. When the observer touches the glass, the
electric charges concentrate into a single path to the
finger because the human body is a good conductor and
offers less resistance than air as the electric charges
travel towards the ground. This exhibit shows how the
body conducts electricity and the effect of electricity
on certain gases.
Plasma
Ball
is available in the "I AM a Scientist" travelling
exhibit package.
