The Shadow Kaleidoscope is an image multiplier. It consists
of two vertical mirrors connected by a hinge. The number
of images on the mirrors is based on the angle at which
the mirrors meet. Markers on the table indicate these
angles. A plastic ball is fixed at the middle of the
two mirrors to easily count the number of images made.
The observer is able to move the mirrors to any desired
angle. He/she can also make interesting shadow patterns
when a hand is placed between the mirrors. This exhibit
greatly assists in understanding the law of reflections
and the concept of symmetry.
Kaleidoscope
is available in the "I AM a Scientist" travelling
exhibit package.
